Registration
Only learners who are nationals of countries in Africa participating in the e-VBAB Network Project residing in those countries are eligible to register for Programmes/ Courses on the iLearn Portal.
The list of participating countries is available at the homepage on the iLearn Portal.
The details of Learning Centres are available under participating countries’ page on the iLearn Portal.
a. Click on the “Register/ Sign-in” option on the iLearn Portal homepage.
b. You will be directed to the log-in page where you can register using your Microsoft, Google, Facebook account, or click on the “Sign-up Now” option to create an account on iLearn Portal using a valid email address.
c. You will receive your log-in credentials on your registered email ID.

a) For Short Term Certificate Courses:
1. Log-in to your iLearn account. If you do not have an iLearn account, please refer to Question :
2. Click on the “Course Catalog” tab and select the “All” option from the drop-down menu. You may also narrow your search by selecting your field of interest or by using the filters provided.
3. Click on the course you wish to enrol in. This will take you to the course description page.
4. If interested, click on the “Join” button.
  • If you are a new user, you will now be asked to update your profile and join the course by selecting the “Update Profile and Join Course” option.
  • If you are an existing user, and have taken courses on the iLearn portal before, you have the option of either updating your profile or directly starting the course.
Please Note: Select your “Country residing in currently” carefully. Only learners who are nationals of countries in Africa participating in the e-VBAB Network Project residing in those countries can register for Programmes/ Courses on the iLearn Portal.

b) For Undergraduate/ Postgraduate Degree or Diploma Programmes and Certificate Courses:
1. Log-in to your iLearn account. If you do not have an iLearn account, please see answer to question :
2. Click on the “Course Catalog” tab and select the “All” option from the drop-down menu. You may also narrow your search by selecting your field of interest or by using the filters provided.
3. Click on the Programme/ Course you wish to enrol in. This will take you to the Programme/ Course description page on the respective University portal offering that Programme/ Course.
4. If interested, the learner must follow the various steps to complete the application on respective University Portal for enrolment in the Programme/ Course.
Please Note: Select your “Country residing in currently” carefully. Only learners who are nationals of countries in Africa participating in the e-VBAB Network Project residing in those countries can register for Programmes/ Courses on the iLearn Portal.
    a) To enrol in Undergraduate/ Postgraduate Degree or Diploma Programmes and Certificate Courses:
    Learners wishing to pursue Undergraduate/ Postgraduate Degree or Diploma Programmes/ Courses should register on the iLearn Portal and enrol in the Programme/ Course they are interested in by filling the enrolment application on the University’s portal. Once the University accepts their application, Indian Diplomatic Mission accredited to that country will undertake learner verification. Learners may be required to visit the concerned Indian Mission for such verification. Government of India is the final authority for approval.
    b) To enrol in Short-term Certificate Courses:
    Learner’s identity may be verified by the Indian Diplomatic Mission and/ or Learning Centres in the respective country.
A valid Passport and a Government issued Proof of Identity (National ID/ Voter ID/ Taxation ID/ Birth Certificate/ Other) are required for verification.
You will be eligible to get a certificate, degree, or diploma on completion if you successfully fulfil the Course/ Programme requirements, as prescribed by the course instructors and the Indian University.
Scholarships
Learners who are nationals of countries in Africa participating in the e-VBAB Network Project residing in those countries can register for Programmes/ Courses on the iLearn Portal. They are eligible for scholarships for Undergraduate/ Postgraduate Degree or Diploma Programmes and Certificate Courses and exemption of examination fee for Short-term Certificate Courses. Scholarship will be approved, semester wise, based on fulfilment of the Programme/ Course requirements and on recommendation of the Indian Diplomatic Missions accredited to respective countries in Africa to the Government of India. Academic performance of the learner shall be reviewed after each semester for continuing with the scholarship.
Learners who are nationals of countries in Africa participating in the e-VBAB Network Project residing in those countries who register for Undergraduate/ Postgraduate Degree or Diploma Programmes and Certificate Courses on the iLearn Portal can avail of a scholarship, if they meet the Programme/ Course requirements prescribed by the Indian University offering it and have been verified and recommended by concerned Indian Diplomatic Missions to the Government of India.
Learners shall receive scholarship from the Government of India for only one Undergraduate/ Postgraduate Degree or Diploma Programme and Certificate Course in respect of which they register on the iLearn Portal. Please see answer to question : below for further details.
Programmes or Courses on the iLearn Portal are categorized as Short-term Certificate Courses and Undergraduate/Postgraduate Degree or Diploma Programmes and Certificate Courses. Scholarship for the latter or exemption from examination fee for the former maybe applied as per the following process:

a) Examination fee exemption for Short-term Certificate Courses
  • A learner must register on the iLearn Portal and enrol in a Short-term Certificate Course of their choice and start learning.
  • Learners who wish to write the exam and get the certificates must apply for a scholarship by registering for the examination on the iLearn Portal. Approval for exemption of the examination fee shall be given by Government of India.
  • The certificate will only be issued after the learner successfully fulfils the course requirements. The learner may contact a Learning Centre in their country to get more information related to the exemption.
b) Scholarships for Undergraduate/Postgraduate Degree or Diploma Programmes and Certificate Courses
  • The learner must register on the iLearn Portal and select the Programme and University they wish to enrol in.
  • The University application must be completed, and if the eligibility criteria defined by the University are met, the learner will be accepted for enrolment in the Programme.
  • Scholarship will be awarded to the learners recommended by the Indian Diplomatic Mission accredited to respective countries and approved by the Government of India.
  • Scholarships are inclusive of tuition and examination fee.
  • Academic performance of the learner shall be reviewed after each semester for continuing with the scholarship.
Courses
Since the Course/ Programme content and assessments are all online, learners are free to log-in and do course work anytime, anywhere as long as they are connected to the internet.
If one does not have access to a personal computer, laptop, or device to access course content, he/ she can visit the local Learning Centre in respective country and make use of the e-learning facilities there.
Some courses may offer live sessions at the discretion of the course instructor. The learner may plan to attend these live sessions as per convenience. These sessions may be available as recorded videos for later viewing as well.
If you have queries for the course instructor, you can post them on the Discussion Forum and your instructor or peer group members will respond to your queries. All discussions on the Forum are moderated by the instructor.
English is currently the only medium of instruction for the Programmes/ Courses being offered on the iLearn Portal. Other languages may be added in the future based on courses and demand.
The duration of different Programmes/ Courses offered on the iLearn Portal is as follows:
  • Short-term Certificate Courses: 4 to 24 weeks
  • Undergraduate Programmes: 3 years
  • Postgraduate Programmes: 2 to 2.5 years
  • Diploma Programmes: 1 year
  • Certificate Course: 6 months
Learners may apply for more than one Undergraduate/ Postgraduate Degree or Diploma Programme or Certificate Course on the iLearn Portal. However, once scholarship is approved for one Programme/ Course, all pending scholarship applications in respect of other Programmes/ Courses will be automatically rejected. Examination
You can write examinations for courses offered on the iLearn Portal only at the local Learning Centre or authorized local examination centres in your respective country.
All examinations shall be proctored and can be computer-based or paper-based. You will need to visit your local Learning Centre or an authorized local examination centre to write examinations.
