Only learners of African nationality residing in a partner African country can register for Programmes/ Courses on the iLearn portal and avail scholarships.
The list of partner countries is available at the Home Page on the iLearn portal.
The list of Learning Centres is available under partner countries’ pages on iLearn portal.
1. Click on the “Register/ Sign-In” option on the iLearn portal homepage.
2. You will be directed to the log-in page where you can register using your Microsoft, Google, Facebook account, or click the “Sign up Now” option to create an account with any other email address.
3. You will receive your login credential on your registered email ID.

1. Log in to your iLearn account. If you do not have an iLearn account, please refer to Question :
2. Click on the “Course Catalog” tab and select the “All” option from the drop-down menu. You may also narrow your search by selecting your field of interest or by using the filters provided.
3. Click on the course you wish you enrol in. This will take you to the course description page.
4. If interested, click on the “Join” button.
  • If you are a new user, you will now be asked to update your profile and join the course by selecting the “Update Profile and Join Course” option.
  • If you are a returning user, and have taken courses on the iLearn portal before, you have the option of either updating your profile or directly starting the course.
Please Note: Select your “Country residing in currently” carefully as only learners of African nationality living in a participating African country are eligible to enrol for the iLearn courses.

  • To enrol in Undergraduate/ Postgraduate/ Diploma Programmes:
    Learners wishing to pursue a degree/ diploma programme should register on the iLearn portal and enrol in the programme they are interested in by filling the enrolment form. Once the university accepts their application, the Indian mission in that country will conduct learner verification. Learners may be required to visit the Indian mission for verification. The Government of India will give the final approval.
  • To enrol in Short-term Certificate Courses:
    Learner identity may be verified by the Indian Diplomatic Mission and/ or Learning Centres in the respective country.
A government-issued identification such as a National ID, valid Driving License, or valid Passport issued will be required for verification.
You will be eligible to get a certificate, degree, or diploma if you successfully fulfil all course/programme requirements as prescribed by the course instructors and the Indian university.
Learners do not have to pay to enrol for any courses on the iLearn portal. African learners residing in a participating partner country in Africa are eligible for scholarships for degree/diploma programmes and exemption of examination fees for Short-term Certificate courses. The scholarship will be approved based on merit, fulfilment of course/programme requirements, and on the recommendation of the Indian Missions to the Government of India.
The performance of the student shall be reviewed after each semester for continuing the scholarship.
Courses on the iLearn portal are categorized as Short-term Certificate courses and Undergraduate, Postgraduate Degree, or Diploma programmes. You may apply for a scholarship for an Undergraduate, Postgraduate, or Diploma programme, or exemption from examination fees for a Short-term Certificate course according to the following process:
Examination fee exemption for Short-term/ Certificate courses
  • A learner must register on the iLearn portal and enrol in a short-term certificate course of their choice.
  • Learners who wish to write the exam and get the certificates must apply for a scholarship by registering for the examination on the iLearn portal. Approval for exemption of the examination fee shall be given by Government of India.
  • The certificate will only be issued after the learner successfully fulfils the course requirements. The learner may contact a Learning Centre in their country to get more information related to the exemption.
Scholarships for Undergraduate/Post Graduate/Diploma programmes
  • The learner must register on the iLearn portal and select the university and programme they wish to enrol in.
  • The university application must be completed, and if the eligibility criteria defined by the university is met, the learner will be accepted for enrolment in the programme.
  • The scholarship will be awarded to learners recommended by the Indian Mission in their respective countries and approved by the Government of India.
  • The scholarships are inclusive of tuition and examination fee.
  • Following successful completion of Semesters 1 and 2, the academic performance of the learner shall be reviewed after each semester in order to determine continuing eligibility for the scholarship.
As the course content and assessments are all online, you can log-in and do course work anytime, anywhere as long as you are connected to the internet.
If you do not have access to a personal computer, laptop, or device to access course content, you can visit the local Learning Centre (LC) in your country and make use of the e-learning facilities there.
However, some courses may offer live sessions at the discretion of the course instructor. You may plan to attend the live sessions as is convenient. These sessions may be available as recorded videos for later viewing as well.
If you have queries for the course instructor, you can post them on the Discussion Forum and your instructor or peer group members will respond to your queries. All discussions on the forum are moderated by the instructor.
English is currently the only medium of instruction on the iLearn portal. Other languages may be added in the future based on courses and demand.
The duration of the courses offered on the iLearn portal are as follows:
  • Short-term Certificate Courses: 1 – 6 months
  • Undergraduate Programmes: 3 years
  • Postgraduate Programmes: 2 to 2.5 years
  • Diploma Programmes: 1 year

You can write exams for courses offered on the iLearn portal only at the local Learning Centre or authorized local examination centres in your respective country.
All examinations shall be proctored and can be computer-based or paper-based tests as prescribed by the course instructor. You will need to visit your local Learning Centre or an authorized local examination centre to write your exams.
