Jamia Millia Islamia

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is a central university located in New Delhi founded at in 1920. Later, A ‘Deemed to be University’ status was bestowed to the Jamia in June 1963 and eventually, on 26 December 1988, through an Act of the Indian Parliament, the it blossomed into a full-fledged Central University. Recently, Jamia Millia Islamia has completed hundred years of its existence in 2020. In recent years Jamia has made significant strides. It got NAAC Accreditation with Grade ‘A++’ in 2021. JMI is ranked 6th among the top universities in India by NIRF 2021. Jamia Millia Islamia has been ranked 195 by the Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021. The university is also ranked in the band of 751-800 by the QS World Ranking 2022.

The Jamia Millia Islamia has well developed faculties including Natural Sciences; Social Sciences; Engineering and Technology; Education; Humanities and Languages; Architecture and Ekistics; Fine Arts, Dentistry, AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Centre for Distance and Online Education and over thirty research and teaching Centres.

The Jamia Millia Islamia also offers Distance Mode Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate, diploma and certificates programmes. The University caters to the interests of students from all communities, and aims to meet the particular needs of the disadvantaged sections among the Muslims. The Jamia launched the Centre for Distance and Online Education with the assistance of Distance Education Council, in September 2002, to provide opportunities for higher education to those who otherwise are not able to draw benefits from the conventional systems of education. Currently, The Centre is successfully running 21 Distance mode and 12 online mode programmes. The Distance and Online education System allows a learner to determine her/his place of learning and provides education at her/his doorstep.
